Discussion

1) Lyft and Uber are widely seen as darlings of the new “app economy” and how the world is being democratized by connecting individuals to better use high-capital items such as your car and your home (AirBnB).  This article suggest that things are not as rosy as you might believe, with providers not making the money that was promised, and one even going to train as a true cab driver in what Tom Friedman has described as being “so 20th-Century”.  How does this article change your opinion as a possible user or supplier of a service like Uber or Lyft?

2) How can Uber and Lyft make changes, if indeed they should, to solve some of the problems listed in this article?
