Discussion:  Issace Wilder, founder of the Free Network Foundation, is aiming to decentralize the internet so that it cannot be controlled and monitored by corporate or governmental regulating bodies.  His non-profit foundation is trying to prevent the actual physical internet from being consolidated and controlled by a few corporate transit networks, while also trying to publicize the fact that the internet is becoming increasingly centralized.  The problem, as Wilder sees it, with having a few corporate owners control the interent, is that there is no privacy and government censorship and interference is left to run wild.

Discussion Questions:

  • Is there a drawback to having the internet be an unregulated entity?
  • How will crime and other illegal acts be regulated and controlled without governement or corporate intervention?
