Discussion: CNN’s Josh Levs discusses technology’s role amid protests in Egypt.  As Internet access  was almost completely shut down on January 27th , only a trickle of information was leaked via the web.  But what was leaked outside of Egypt was amplified all over the world, evidence that no matter how hard governments try, it’s virtually impossible to completely block access to the world wide web.

Questions for discussion:

  • Discuss how the ability to get instant access to information is redefining the lives of millions of people in countries like Egypt.
  • Is access to technology, i.e. Internet, social media, Twitter, as much a right as access to clean water?  Why or why not?
